What is Wediko?
Established in 1934, Wediko Children’s Services is a non-profit organization committed to improving children’s lives. Wediko has nearly 85 years of experience developing programs and services to meet the diverse needs of students in our community. Wediko continuously strives to restore hope and competency in thousands of children, families, and educators through its rigorous support, evaluation, and treatment for children. Wediko helps children find their strengths and build skills so that they can overcome all obstacles to their success.
Using a strength-based approach, Wediko works with students who have faced repeated obstacles in their lives due to a broad spectrum of social, emotional, behavioral, and learning challenges. The impact of these struggles is profound, often resulting in repeated failures at school, compromised relationships with peers, and significant tensions within their own families. These disappointments can become self-fulfilling prophecies where children act out their identities through narrow definitions. Through a continuum of flexible services, multidisciplinary training programs, a residential therapeutic school, and summer camp, Wediko develops enduring partnerships with children, families, schools, and the community.
What is a Stair Climb?
Stair climbs are a great way to participate in a fun community fitness event that's equal parts healthy competition and working together for the greater good. Whether you're competing with your friends to see who can climb all 46 floors of this year's climb the fastest, looking to accomplish a personal goal as you ascend the stairs slow and steady, or supporting Wediko's mission as a virtual fundraiser, your participation will support programs that help under-served youth and families live happier, healthier lives.
This year Wediko is aiming to raise $85,000 between individual fundraisers and corporate sponsors. 100% of the donations will go towards providing children with services needed to overcome social, emotional, and learning challenges. Each dollar raised will make it possible for Wediko to:
